Chelsea Wimmer, originally from Telford, Pennsylvania, is pursuing her DMA in Viola Performance at Stony Brook University on Long Island. At Stony Brook, Ms. Wimmer is a dedicated chamber musician, active member of internationally renowned harpsichordist Arthur Haas’ Baroque Players, the acclaimed Contemporary Chamber Players, and the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra. She is an inquisitive researcher, focused currently on the Late Baroque music of Heinrich Biber, World War II-era music, and the aesthetics of Paul Hindemith.
Ms. Wimmer completed her MM in Viola Performance at Stony Brook University in 2016. She received her BA in Music with a concentration in Viola Performance from Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana in 2013, where she was the Principal Viola of the Goshen College Symphony Orchestra and winner of the Goshen College Concerto-Aria Competition.
Ms. Wimmer is an active freelance violist in New York, Philadelphia, and New Jersey, including Stilian Kirov’s Symphony in C. Ms. Wimmer has also been privileged to perform extensively in Argentina and throughout Europe. She currently studies with Lawrence Dutton of the Emerson String Quartet and Nicholas Cords of the Silk Road Ensemble and Brooklyn Rider.
